Re: Yvette Mimieux 1942 - 2022
This makes me very sad. I was on a kick to see everything I could get my hands on that she appeared in for a while. I think she would have been a bigger star had she started a little earlier before movies shifted so completely in tone. Her delicate beauty seems to be of an earlier era (1920s?). If you haven't seen a Mimieux film, I highly recommend Light in the Piazza, and Where The Boys Are is a treat as well. I secured autographs from many of the main cast members from that movie (Paula Prentiss, Dolores Hart, Connie Francis, George Hamilton) but alas Mimieux evaded me.

Damn. I just watched her last week in Jackson County Jail (1976), in which she took some very gutsy chances in what was, sadly, a cheap looking film. She and Tommy Lee Jones (in his first notable film role) are much better than the material. The scene in which she kills the jail guard who has just raped her is hard to watch, but she registers injury and rage and carries the story, even if you question the reason for the film existing.
