This is tremendously exciting to me. By coincidence, I was at the Echo Theater today (currently used mainly for live performance but quite intact nonetheless) just thinking how wonderful it would be if it could do the occasional film screening, and this was waiting in my inbox.

Live Scoring of Buster Keaton’s “The General”
In 1911, the Echo Theater first opened its doors to the public, operating as a silent film theater. Now, we honor our building’s history with a magical and fun-filled showing of actor Buster Keaton’s iconic 1926 silent film “The General”, complete with live scoring by the innovative cellist and a founding member of the Portland Cello Project, Gideon Freudmann.
