Doris Eaton Travis 1904-2010

I feel compelled to mention the passing of this remarkable lady, who appeared in the Ziegfeld Follies of 1919 and was still actively making personal appearances until days before her death. I briefly met her in 1999 when she was a mere 95, and she could have easily been mistaken for a peppy 65 year old. She didn't make many movies, but cable once ran THE VERY IDEA (1929), and she last appeared in MAN IN THE MOON seventy years later!

"Living film history" doesn't come much better than that, and she also had a good old age, seemingly enjoying herself all the way.

We need to immortalize as much as we can from people like her; much like the veterans of WW1, the survivors of silents won't be with us much longer.
