There Goes My Heart

I watched this on Turner Classics and I'm wondering if part of the film was missing? The scene fades out with Fredric March, Patsy Kelly, and Virginia Bruce in a cab, as March wonders aloud if Bruce will have dinner with him. The scene then fades in to Kelly and Bruce preparing dinner at their apartment, waiting for "Bill" (March). Was something missing? Bruce's character suddenly morphed from being irritated with March to being smitten by him.

This was one of Hal Roach Studios attempts at screwball comedy. There are various print versions in circulation. The original runtime of 83 minutes may have been cut down years ago by a TV distributor, so that may be why there are continuity gaps. Years ago I actually had a print that only ran 50 minutes, obviously a TV cutdown for an hour timeslot.

Thanks for the info. The running time appeared to be around 83 minutes, but the sequence I described seemed a rather abrupt transition from a mildly adverserial acquaintance to romance.

Whereas in real life things often go the other way!
