RIP Mary Hunt

Post by Michael F. Blake » Mon Feb 07, 2011 1:15 am

Mary Hunt, at age 96, passed on Dec. 11, 2010.

Who is she? One of the last people who we could say saw Lon Chaney films when they were originally shown.

She was also my friend. Mary wrote me after reading my first Chaney book. She had fallen in love watching his films as a kid. She later married a deaf man, which she said she wouldn't have ever thought about if it hadn't been for Lon.

Mary appears in the Brownlow Chaney documentary talking about LONDON AFTER MIDNIGHT.

My wife & I had a delightful lunch with her one day in 2000 in her town of West Sussex. She was a dear lady & friend, and I imagine she & Lon are having a wonderful time talking.

Godspeed, Mary.

I'd wondered who she was when I saw Brownlow's Chaney Doc. Sounded like a very interesting person, indeed. RIP.
