color fade

Ok I know this is a bit off topic as it does relate to new films but it will
one day be the problem of future collectors and preservationist. Has
anyone else seen this thread on the Film Tech forms?

Brad Miller posted an interesting clip in the post...

Quite the odd effect on the film. I am not sure if it is the begining
of fade or not.

Any ideas? Has anyone here seen this before?

As I mentioned on another board, this looks less like fade and more like bad processing. Notice that it is splotchy, and largely down the center. The effect hasn't manifested itself until now because whatever development chemicals weren't properly washed off in the first place have only recently done enough damage for it to be visible.
